A Word From Pastor Deryl...

Dear Friends,

Over the course of this past year, it has been our focus to build a strong ministry core of
individuals that share a sense of call and commitment to the community of Tukwila.  Our
commitment had to begin with one another as God’s family.

As we celebrate the first year anniversary of House of Oaks Ministries this month, we have
positioned ourselves to reach outside of our doors and into the community to meet needs
and support people in finding wholeness through Jesus Christ.

This summer we will undertake a very needed and valuable outreach to the community. We
plan to reach 40-60 children and their families through our “Driven by Purpose” summer day
camp.  During the summer camp there will be exciting chapel services, life-skills classes,
academic enrichment, art, dance, sport, recreation, fantastic field trips, and a four (4) day
residence camp to culminate our program.

Although there will be a fee for the summer camp we expect that there will be several
families needing scholarships.  Poverty has long been associated with the city of Tukwila, in
a school district where seventy-one (71) percent of students are eligible for free/reduced
school meals, meaning that they are living at or below the poverty level.

Our hope is to provide a life-changing experience for 60 children this summer.  And though
this is more than childcare, many families lack the resources and opportunities to provide
quality care for their children during these non-school months and during hours when they
are at work.  Therefore, we are asking our friends to help us to underwrite the cost of camp
for these families, and share the love of Christ with our community in tangible ways.

Should you want to take this opportunity to support our summer camp, please send letters of
inquiry about volunteer opportunities,  or your tax deductible contribution to: HOOM Summer
Camp / PO Box 69765 / Tukwila, WA 98168.

My heart is filled with gratitude as I think about God’s faithfulness towards the House of
Oaks Ministries over this past year.  Over two years ago plans were being mapped for this
ministry, and we have remained true to our vision.  Many you have helped us experience a
year of successful ministry in the city of Tukwila.  Thank you for all your prayers and
support.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Deryl
